A Must Have.
In today’s society, car manufacturers should be adding a visual surveillance system, in addition to the standard anti-theft alarm. There has been an increase in accidents, hit and runs, vandalism, and attempted theft.
There has been an increased volume of tailgating lately causing rear end collisions. In some states, if someone hits you from behind, they are automatically at fault. Now there is additional support for the defense. They cannot say that you were driving recklessly. The proof is in the pudding.
My current camera is the Dash Cam Mini 2 which I might add, has been reliable, but it lacked a rear camera. So, it was time to upgrade.
There appears to be one problem regardless of manufacturer with these types of systems. That is the app. Cars of today have CarPlay capabilities which requires WiFi and Bluetooth. Unfortunately, so does the camera app. Connectivity is s major problem. Personally, I have to turn off my car stereo first to have access to the app.
The downside side to this system is that you need to purchase a SD Card reader and connect it to your PC. My former camera provided a cable where one side would connect to the camera, and the other end via USB. The camera would come up as a storage device. Organization of files was easy.
The cameras (front and back) are not as large as they appear to be in some of the photos. People are zooming in when taking the photo which makes it look like the camera is bigger. Rear view mirrors come in all lengths and widths, so it’s difficult to make a determination on the actual size of the front camera.
I am thankful that Thinkware included a cigarette lighter connection. This way, I am able to test the cameras and their full functionality before making the final installation. It would be a pain, and headache to have to uninstall due to failure. My connection will be directly to the fuse box.
Upon completion of my installation, I will be returning and providing additional pictures and a video. Hopefully, my video will not be as dramatic as the couple that was hit on the driver’s side because the SUV next to them did not want to slow down because the SUV in front of him was making a left hand turn.

Works well, beeps a lot.
My son was able to hook it directly into the car and hide the wires and I forget I have it except that it was beeping constantly at every little bump in the road. I figured out how to turn it off but now there are are no sounds wishing me a safe drive. So it’s either all sounds on or all sounds off.
I am able to look at the footage and thankfully have not had to yet and the sound quality on the video is really high quality.
